President's Leadership Program

The President’s Leadership Scholarship Program is offered to associate degree seeking students on the Gainesville and Oconee campuses. It is designed to give participants opportunities to experience leadership as broadly as possible. These opportunities include studying the concept of leadership in the classroom, watching college and community leaders at work, and developing their own leadership skills through campus involvement and coordination of projects. Leadership Scholars will personally interact with university and community leaders through bi-monthly meetings and student organization involvement.

Benefits of the Program

  • Opportunity to build close relationships with other student members of the program and the advisors
  • Meeting and regularly interacting with university leaders
  • Access to involvement opportunities at the university
  • Networking with university and community leaders
  • Assistance with the transition to the university through interactions with other UNG students, faculty, and staff

Scholarship

Students who are selected for the program will receive a $1000 scholarship, in addition to any other scholarships they have been awarded, including the Hope Scholarship. Funds will be awarded in $250 increments at the beginning and mid-points of fall and spring semesters if program expectations are met. The scholarship is renewable for a second year, if the participant successfully meets all program expectations.

New students accepted for admission to the University of North Georgia for the spring, summer or fall semester who have a 3.2 or above overall high school GPA and a minimum combined SAT score of 1100 (Critical Reading and Math only) or an ACT composite score of 24 are eligible to apply for membership in the Leadership Program.
