Momentum Approach

The University System of Georgia announced its Momentum Approach program in December of 2017. UNG is participating in the program, rooted in an evidence-based, research approach to improve student learning outcomes. Simply stated, “college students are most successful when they start out their college careers by making a purposeful choice in a focus area or program, enter with a productive academic mindset, and follow clearly sequenced program maps that include nine credits in the student’s academic focus area and 30 credits in their first year.”

The Momentum Approach is designed to help students:

  • Make a purposeful choice
  • Identify a pathway
  • Complete their initial English and Math in the first year
  • Establish an academic Mindset
  • And earn 30 credit hours (if full-time)
