How to Apply
Summer Honors has an online application system, and a link to the application appears at the left of every Summer Honors webpage.
Summer Honors registration costs $1,500 with a registration fee due by May 30. Certain school districts support competitively-awarded scholarships that will cover all or the majority of the registration fee:
- Cherokee County
- Dalton Public Schools
- Fannin County
- Murray County
- Whitfield County
- Union County
Scholarships to attend Summer Honors will be awarded to up to two dependents of faculty and staff from the University of North Georgia. See below for details.
To be eligible for Summer Honors, you must have completed your junior year of high school and have at least a 3.5 GPA when calculated using a 4.0 scale. When you submit your application, a link will be sent to your high school guidance counselor and the teacher from whom you have requested a recommendation. Be sure to ask your teacher before verifying their email address and entering on your application. You will also need your guidance counselor to upload a current, official transcript. If you are from a school district that offers scholarship support for Summer Honors, your guidance counselor information is already in the system. If your school does not offer scholarships, please verify the correct email address for your guidance counselor and include it in your application. A link will be sent to them upon submission of your application asking them upload a transcript on your behalf.
Scholarships for UNG Faculty and Staff Dependents
The University of North Georgia is providing two scholarships to attend Summer Honors for the dependents of full time faculty and staff from any campus. The university will support $1,400 of the $1,500 registration cost. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the program and to provide spending money for their dependent while at Summer Honors. A scholarship committee external to Summer Honors will evaluate the applicants and forward their recommendations to Director Robb Sinn. For these applications, the due date is April 10. Dr. Sinn will take the recommendations of the scholarship committee verbatim and notify scholarship recipients and wait-listed applicants in early May.
The application for the UNG Dependent Scholarships is slightly different. Please be sure to select "UNG Dependent" in the School District drop-down menu when you register your account in the online application system.
