For 2017, Summer Honors has launched a new online application and registration system. The help guides below provide assistance for all parties who need to access the system. For questions about camp including directions, check-in, schedules, medications, packing lists and other details, please see our FAQs pages.

New Account and Login

The Summer Honors online application system registers accounts for applicants and for the parents, guidance counselors and teachers who will contribute. Users are tracked by email address, so make sure to use a current email you check often. When an application is submitted, the system sends an email from UNG Summer Honors to invite teachers to submit a recommendation and guidance counselors to upload a transcript.

The “school system” drop-down box provides a list of schools that provide scholarship assistance for students in their district. If you don’t find your school listed select “Other” unless your parent or legal guardian is a full-time employee of the University of North Georgia (any campus). In that case, select “UNG dependent” to be considered for a scholarship.

For teachers and guidance counselors, your school is preset to match the students and cannot be edited.

Applicants

The application menu has a series of tabs across the top. When you fill in the required fields of a section and click the “Update Application” button, a green check mark appears by the name of the tab. Incomplete sections are marked with a red X.

Vital: Please take time to verify the accuracy of the email addresses for your parent or legal guardian and the teacher from whom you are requesting a recommendation.

When you submit your application, an email is sent to the specified teacher and your guidance counselor. Your application is not complete until the online recommendation has been submitted and a transcript uploaded by your guidance counselor.

When you are accepted the program, an email is sent to your parent or legal guardian which links them to your Registration account. Please be certain the email you enter is correct! The registration portal allows both the student and parent to provide nutrition and medical information such as dietary need (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) or medical issue (asthma, bee or wasp allergy, etc.).

Twins and siblings should make sure to use the same parent or legal guardian email address. If they do, that parent will be linked to both accounts and can view all registration information for both children.

Parents

When your child has been accepted to Summer Honors, an acceptance email is sent both your child and to you. If you create an account using the email your child entered, your account will be linked to your child’s. You can provide information about nutritional needs (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) or medical issues (asthma, bee or wasp sting allergy, etc.), review camp fees any relevant scholarship monies.

Waiver and Release

Parents must review, print out and sign the Waiver and Release. Please scan the signed waiver and email it as an attachment to Summer Honors director Robb Sinn, or mail it to:

Error Message Help

If you encounter an error message (as shown below), the system is not recognizing you as having a child’s application in the system. Please verify you are using the same email your child entered on his or her application. If problems persist, please email Summer Honors director Robb Sinn or call the office at 706-864-1676 for assistance in linking your account to your child’s.

Parents of Siblings/Twins

Parents of twins or siblings should try to ensure both children put the same parent or legal guardian email address in their applications.

If they do, you will see two tabs below the menu tabs, one for each child.

This allows you to provide individual information about allergies or dietary needs. Individual waivers are provided for each child and will need to be printed and signed separately.

Guidance Counselors

When a student submits an application to Summer Honors, an email is sent to his or her guidance counselor requesting that you upload a current transcript. Once you have created an account and logged in, you will see three tabs. The first, Registration, allows the system to recognize you and correctly personalize emails and alerts.
In the second tab, Applicants, you will have a tab for all students who have requested a transcript. When you have successfully uploaded a transcript, a green check mark will appear next to the Transcript button.
When you have selected a file in the Upload Transcript dialogue, the name of the file is shown below the Upload Transcript button to verify the correct file. Click “Upload Selected Files” button to complete the process.

At any time, you may click on the Application button to review the application of the student or students who have applied. When they are accepted to the program, the will disappear from the Applicants tab and appear in the Attendees tab. This allows you to monitor their status in real time.

Please note that guidance counselors from school systems which provide Summer Honors scholarship support for their students have two additional columns for Recommendation.

From the drop-down box, please select Recommend for students who should receive a scholarship and Wait List for students who qualify for the scholarship but for whom a scholarship is not currently available.

The Do Not Recommend option is for students who do not qualify for the scholarship, for example, if a freshman applied not realizing the program is for rising juniors.

Teachers and Recommendations

When a student submits an application to Summer Honors, an email is sent to the teacher of his or her choice requesting that you complete an online recommendation. An image of a typical email is shown.

Please note the link at the bottom – if you click this link and register a new account using it, your recommendation will be linked the student’s application. Don't worry if the "School District" drop-down box shows a different school than you work at, for example, if a student recently transferred. The school matches the student's application, and this field is not editable due to the linking of your account with the correct recommendation and application.

Student has applied to the Summer Honors Program at UNG and requested you provide a recommendation. Please follow link to login to Summer Honors account.

Once you have created an account and logged in, you will see two tabs at the top. The first, Registration, allows the system to recognize you and correctly personalize emails and alerts.

If you click the second tab, Requests for Recommendations, you will see a tab for each student who has requested a recommendation from you. When you have successfully completed a recommendation, a green check mark appears by that student’s name.
When you have completed all recommendations, a green check mark appears by the Requests for Recommendation tab.
