Overview

Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor and coordinator of the Diversity and Recruitment Initiatives in the college of education. She currently teaches courses for the Social Foundations of Education, Diversity Certificate, and Masters of Education programs. Dr. Johnson has conducted anthropological research on issues of ethnicity and inequality, gender and sexuality, education, and diversity pedagogy. Her current research focuses on multicultural education, race/racism in teacher education, and social inequality in the Caribbean region.

Dr. Johnson’s research interests include ethnic, class, and gender relations, educational anthropology, diversity pedagogy, issues of race in teacher education, tourism, immigration, and the African Diaspora of the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
