Fall 2020 Plan Overview

The circumstances for fall semester remain uncertain and will require extreme flexibility from everyone.  However, the university has developed robust plans that account for some of the scenarios under which UNG might operate during the fall semester.  UNG and all University System of Georgia institutions plan to begin the fall semester with face-to-face instruction and social distancing expectations (Contingency Plan 1 below).  Our plans will adapt as necessary to reflect the most current pandemic conditions and evolving public health guidance.  UNG will communicate frequently with students, employees and other stakeholders as we implement this plan and details are developed.

The plan is updated as guidance evolves.

Academic Year 2020-2021 Start – Fall classes begin with limited social distancing expectations

Contingency Plan 1 – Fall classes begin with social distancing expectations

Contingency Plan 2 – Fall classes begin fully online

Contingency Plan 3 – Classes and operations must go to an online format for a period of time during the semester

Guiding Principles

UNG's plans will prioritize the health and safety of all members of our community and will comply with Executive Orders and directives from the Governor’s Office as well as guidance from the Georgia Department of Public Health and the University System of Georgia.  These guiding principles have guided our planning and will be foundational to our efforts as we progress.

  1. UNG will continue to make the safety of students, faculty and staff its first priority.
  2. Classes and operations must be able to go between best practices in face-to-face and online delivery for a period during the semester, based on public health information.
  3. Clear and proactive communications regarding planning, implementation processes, and operational changes are essential.

UNG follows Section 508 Standards and WCAG 2.0 for web accessibility. If you require the content on this web page in another format, please contact the ADA Coordinator.
