All Academic Advisors Still Here for You Transcript

Hi, I'm Johnny Kahn the Associate Director of Academic Advising at the University of North Georgia and welcome to my home.

Yes, you heard that right. Like many other faculty, staff, and students I'm working from my home during these trying times. This has caused uncertainty in many of you but I want to reassure you that all the professional advisors and advising centers are here for your continued success at UNG.

To be successful, I have these four tips for you to follow.

Number one: book an appointment with your academic advisor. Just as you have done in the past, visit to book an appointment with your advisor. Once you have booked it, the advisor will meet with you virtually using the Microsoft Teams video feature. It'll be just like being in the office. You can see each other's faces and you'll be able to share information like you did in the office. They will be able to share their screens, walk you through registering for classes, finding information on the website. Don't have the technology to connect with us virtually? Not a problem. They will connect with you over the phone just as long as you set that appointment up with them.

Number two: visit our website. We have some great resources available to all students, faculty, and staff. Go to the MyUNG homepage, click on the blue advising button. Once there, you're gonna find How To's, Academic Policies and Procedures, and you're also going to find a link to our Advising Tools page. Once on the Advising Tools page, you will find advisor information, plans of studies, course planning guides, and major information for most majors at UNG.

Number three: follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We are constantly posting deadlines, information, major spotlights and hosting virtual events and you can find it all right there.

Number four: ask questions. Our advisors are always here to answer your questions and so don't hesitate to ask them if you do not know who to ask your questions to.

While we are all at home during these uncertain times, one thing is for certain, Advising is here for you, virtually that is.
