Instructions on Accessing Teams for Tutoring

1. Download the Teams app or use the web version

  2. Click on the Teams app logo and Teams will open in a new browser tab. You will have to use DUO to log in. (Note: DUO/2FA is required every time you log in via the web version of Teams. To avoid this, download the application.)

2. Join or create a team

Once you are in Teams, locate the option to "Join or Create Team"
Desktop/Laptop: While on the Teams tab on the left-hand side, click "Join or Create Team" at the top-right and enter a code to join. Codes for each subject are listed below.
Mobile/Tablet:
  1. Android - Click the Teams tab at the bottom of the screen. Once Teams is open, click the small icon with 3 dots at the top-right corner to find “Join a team with a code” and enter the appropriate code. Codes for each subject are listed below.

  1. Inside the “Connect with a Tutor” channel, reply directly to a tutor’s message. Use the “Reply” option.
  2. Post your name and the class you need tutoring in, like this: "I’m Sophie and I need help with MATH 1111." Share as much information as possible to help tutors understand your question.

5. What to do during the session

  • Tutors and moderators will be monitoring this section and will respond to you as soon as they are available.
  • Click “Join chat” when you receive a video chat notification from a tutor. Note: Other students may be asked to join this chat if they need help with the same subject.
  • During the video chat, you can hover over the icons in the middle of the page to unmute your microphone and turn on your camera. There are three dots where you can change your settings if you have problems hearing or issues with your camera.
  • Inside the video chat, tutors will guide you to further online tools that may help during your session.
