Fun fact or something interesting about yourself?

I am very involved with several local non-profit groups in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County. If you are looking to get plugged-in to the community, talk to me - I'd love to help you get connected.

What is your favorite part about being a recruiter for UNG?

I love to watch students grow and succeed. Talking to them while they are in high school, making their transition into college easy and seamless, and getting them admitted is very satisfying. I also like to take it one step further and keep in touch with students throughout their time in college and help them along the way until ultimately congratulating them before they walk across the stage and graduate.

Restaurant recommendation for visitors who come to campus?

Dahlonega: Shenanigan's Irish Pub is my go-to restaurant. There is something on the menu for everyone and the owner, Deb, is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Gainesville: Napoli's Pizza has awesome pizza and Italian food. Oconee: Barberito's is one of my all-time favorites, so I usually go there when I'm in the area.

What is one thing you wish you knew in college that you know now?

Be a leader, not a follower. Don't try to conform to others. Forge your own path and dare to be different. If there isn't a club or group on campus that you fit in with or want to join, create your own. Also, look at different local non-profits to get involved with while in school. There are a lot of opportunities awaiting. College is your chance to break the mold that you conformed to while in middle and high school. Just be yourself.

What is your favorite UNG moment?

UNG is a national leader for the Make-A-Wish initiative. The Make-A-Wish reveals that we host are my favorite. I love the excitement that surrounds them and seeing the joy shown by the kids that we grant wishes to as well as our own students, faculty, and staff.

UNG follows Section 508 Standards and WCAG 2.0 for web accessibility. If you require the content on this web page in another format, please contact the ADA Coordinator.
