Why University College?

Historically, University of North Georgia (UNG) has placed a high priority on student success by providing a broad array of academic support services designed to assist students in achieving their academic goals. These services have included English as a Second Language for multilingual students who are non-native speakers of English, Learning Support for students whose academic backgrounds place them at academic risk, Supplemental Instruction for courses which have higher withdrawal rates and higher rates of unsatisfactory grades earned, Tutoring Services for students who need further academic support that will fit with their needs, and general academic assistance. University College at UNG expects to facilitate collaboration, provide opportunities for assessing the efficacy of various services and programs, and spur the development of new strategies to further enhance student academic success.

Further expansion is under way at University College at UNG! University College plans to extend services to all campuses as well as welcomes two new units, Academic Transitions and General & University Studies. Internal Transfer provides support to students by aiding them in the preparation and adjustment to the demands of the college environment. General & University Studies compliments this service by offering students a variety of courses that focus on study skill enhancement, intellectual stimulation, career planning, and academic internships along with offering a baccalaureate degree program for students that wish to expand their educational experience beyond a single educational track.

This is an exciting time for the University College. I hope you join us for the journey!
