    Overview

Dr. Maine serves as an adviser to UNG President Bonita Jacobs and provides support to strategic initiatives on her behalf. In addition, Maine leads the Division of University Relations, which comprises communications and marketing, web communications, economic development and community engagement, government relations, diversity and inclusion, professional and continuing education, policy development and administration, and university events.

Maine’s experience spans more than 30 years in communications and marketing in the education, government, non-profit, corporate, and agency sectors. Maine joined then-North Georgia College & State University in 2008, and guided the development of the university’s brand following the institution’s successful consolidation in 2013. Since then, she has helped strengthen the university’s reputation as one of the South’s leading public universities.

Through her varied professional and civic experiences, Maine has witnessed the transformative power of education on students and their communities. To improve educational attainment and opportunity, she serves as a liaison with key community leaders and partners. She currently services on the Board of Directors for the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

Maine holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University, and a Doctor of Education degree in higher education management through UGA's Institute of Higher Education. She is a graduate of the University System of Georgia’s Executive Leadership Institute and holds professional accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America.

She served as chair of the Advisory Council for Communications and Public Affairs of the American Association of State Colleges & Universities (AASCU) from 2017 to 2019 and chaired the group’s conference in 2015 and 2016. In 2016, Maine received the Award of Excellence in Communications and Marketing from the Georgia Education Advancement Council.

Maine currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Education Advancement and Marketing. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Gainesville.
