2010 Sculpture Exhibit
The first annual exhibition: March 7, 2010 – March 6, 2011
Sculptors throughout the 13 Appalachian states (Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia) were notified of the opportunity through a prospectus and “call to artists.” A number of artists scattered throughout this extensive region submitted images of up to three sculptures for consideration, and the juried competition resulted in the selection of a single work by each of six artists.
The six sculptors are: Jim Gallucci of Greensboro, NC, Jacob Liske of Midland, NC, Damon Lusky of Dawsonville, GA, Catherine Murray of Jonesborough, TN, Kyle Van Lusk of Brevard, NC, and Reuben Williams of Hull, GA. Their works range from whimsical to austere, and are made from materials that include bronze, limestone, and steel—the steel coming in varieties of naturally oxidized, galvanized, and painted.
