4.5 Profile Headshots

To maintain a consistent, professional look to our profile page headshots, UNG has adopted guidelines for headshot photos. See the information below. If you still have unanswered questions after reviewing this information, contact the webteam via ServiceNow (login required).

May I bring in my own photo to use on my profile webpage?

We would like all profile pictures on the site to be indoor professional studio color shots with a black or dark blue background. Since University Relations offers studio headshots of faculty and staff at no cost to you, we prefer that you make use of our services. However, if you have a professional, color, studio headshot with a solid blue or black background that you would like to submit to Web Communications for approval, please contact the webteam via ServiceNow (login required) using the "Other Requests" form, and attach the picture in the highest resolution available to the ticket. We do reserve the right to refuse any image we do not view as appropriate for the website.

Am I required to have a picture on my profile page?

While a headshot is not required, it is strongly recommended if your unit has chosen the style of directory listing that displays photos. Having your face on your site’s page lends a touch of personality and sense of confidence in your unit’s page that can be gained in no other fashion. For those units who choose to have personnel images, we do ask that they strive to have at least 75% of their directory entries with actual photos so the page does not look unfinished.

Who do I contact to get a studio headshot taken?

You should use the Creative Assistance Request form to request a studio headshot. After submitting the form, someone from Creative Services will contact you to set up a day and time for your photo to be taken.

May I use a black and white headshot?


I have my headshot, who do I contact to get it added to my profile page?
I am the web content coordinator for my department and I have one (or several) department personnel that need a headshot for their profile web page, what do I do?

Have them fill out the Creative Assistance Request form – a UNG login is required.

What happens once the photos are taken?

After the photo shoot, the person will select their preferred image. A Creative Services team member will prepare the selected shot to be used on the website and then forward the photo to the webteam for placement on the site. Creative Services retains high resolution copies of the headshots if needed for publications or other promotional purposes.

How do I Update Directory Info?

Primary title, department, phone number, email address or office location changes should be submitted via IT's Update Directory Information form (login required).
