Profile Process

Profile pages contain directory and biographical information of faculty and staff affiliated with your department or program.

Why should each person in your department have a profile page? You can:

  • show their qualifications.
  • showcase their accomplishments.
  • provide contact information.
  • helps visitors and students put a face with the name.
Profiles are a great opportunity to help your web site visitors get to know your department.

How it Works

When we list and display faculty and staff information on the UNG web site, there are four components involved:

  • profile image (displays on profile page and possibly your department listing) (optional)
  • profile page (a page that pulls in directory information and allows you to add additional biographical information for an individual) (optional)
  • department listing (a page that displays in your department web site and pulls in directory information and possibly the profile images of faculty and staff in your department)
  • directory (an automated listing that pulls in directory information and links to a profile page if it exists)

But how do these components connect to each other? The email address is what glues it all together!

Email addresses are:

  • entered as
  • entered in the following:
    • profile image
    • profile page
    • department listing (manual listing only)

You don't have to have a profile image and/or a profile page. You can have any of the following combinations.

  • Profile image, profile page, department listing, directory listing
  • Profile page, department listing, directory listing
  • Department listing, directory listing

Note: There is no option to have a profile image and not have a profile page. The profile page must be there for the image to show up.

How the components work together

Gather the Content

  1. Ask the person to fill out the necessary information for their profile in a Word document. Your department may decide if certain sections are optional.
  2. Arrange for the person to come to University Relations to have their headshot photo taken.
  3. Make sure they have a UNG email address.
  4. Make sure they are listed in the main directory (

Add the Content to Cascade

  1. Upload the prepared image.
  2. Create a new profile page (fac/staff bio page) and add their information.
  3. Add their email to the listing block. (Only for manual listings.)

Overnight Publishing

Let everything publish overnight and then check the following:

  1. Their name is a link on the UNG directory.
  2. They show up on your department listing and their name is a link.
  3. The links above take you to their profile page.
  4. Their profile photo displays on their profile page.
  5. Their profile photo shows up on your department listing. (Only for default listings.)
