Appalachian Studies Center's Food Pantry

Food Pantry Operations Updates

In 2016, the Appalachian Studies Center and a committee of UNG volunteers opened a food and supply pantry at the Historic Vickery House for students, staff and faculty. The UNG Food Pantry is not a university-funded service. We finance our services through financial and food donations as well as fundraising events.

Need to Use the Pantry?

This pantry uses a supermarket model; you “shop” for yourself to get the food you need for the week. Bring your UNG ID. If the door to the building is locked, call or text one of the numbers posted on the doors.

Want to Donate?

We cannot accept canned vegetables or ramen noodles at this time. We are completely out of bread, milk, eggs, frozen meat and/or entrees. We always need tuna fish, canned meat, peanut butter, and breakfast foods.

Non-Perishable Needs
Currently, the pantry needs the following non-perishable items:
  • Broth
  • Nuts and other protein snacks
  • Peanut butter
  • Vacuum packed chicken and tuna
  • Mayonnaise and sweet pickle relish
  • Individual, microwavable meals
  • Spaghetti, alfredo, taco sauces, salsa and seasonings
  • Canned and vacuum packed fruit
  • Individual snacks such as applesauce, pudding, and Jello
  • Non-perishable milk & small packs of cereal
Non-Food Supply Needs
Non-food supplies include:
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Baby wipes
  • Shampoo
  • Cream rinse
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Laundry soap
  • Dishwasher detergent
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Blue exam books
