Javier Guadaloupe
Javier Guadalupe is a Health and PE teacher at Cherokee Bluff Middle School in Flowery Branch. He is the middle school Wellness Coordinator and coaches high school soccer. Javier earned his degree in Physical Education Teacher Education at the University of North Georgia. He enjoys bringing overall wellness to his community in as many opportunities as he can.
Ansley Smallwood
Ansley Smallwood is a 5th grade teacher at Lanier Elementary in Hall County. She also coaches high school girls basketball at North Hall High School. Ansley earned her degree in Elementary and Special Education with a reading endorsement as well as her masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Georgia. Ansley gained statewide recognition as the teacher who created her own identity by inspiring children through her passion for NASCAR.
Aaron Hopper
Aaron Hopper is a seasoned educator at Lumpkin County High School, recognized for his dedication to teaching and his impact on students over a long and successful career. Aaron earned his degree from the University of North Georgia and began his teaching career at Long Branch Elementary School in 2000. He joined Lumpkin County High School in 2008, where he has inspired countless students and has been honored as Teacher of the Year twice, reflecting his excellence in instruction and commitment to student growth.
Samantha Cochenour
Samantha Cochenour is a 2nd grade teacher at Cottrell Elementary School, honored for her dedication to creating a supportive and empowering learning environment. She encourages students to take an active role in their learning while building confidence, foundational skills, and a love for education. Samantha earned her degree in Special and Elementary Education, along with a reading endorsement, from the University of North Georgia and is also certified to teach middle school science. She has taught across multiple school systems, including Bright from the Start, church schools, Whitlow Elementary, Georgia Cyber Academy, and now Lumpkin County Schools.
Wesley Adams
Wesley Adams is an 8th grade social studies teacher at Lumpkin County Middle School, recognized for his dedication to student-centered, inquiry-based learning. In his tenth year, he inspires students to connect deeply with Georgia history and develop a strong understanding of civic responsibility. A graduate of the University of North Georgia, Wesley earned both a Master’s and Specialist degree in education from Kennesaw State University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree.
Chandler Mayfield
Chandler Mayfield is an elementary physical education teacher at Heroes Elementary School in the Jackson County School System. As a published author, he co-authored the article "Silencing the Whisperers: Making PE More Than PE," which explores innovative cross-curricular integration strategies in elementary physical education. Chandler is also a certified pickleball coach through the Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR), USA Pickleball’s preferred certification program. With a commitment to instilling key wellness skills, Chandler creates an engaging environment where students can explore various physical activities and discover their strengths. He is eager and continually seeks ways to learn new teaching methods and contribute to the field of physical education.
William Smith
William Smith is an elementary school PE teacher at DuPont Elementary serving grades K-5, and coaches football at Red Bank Middle School, recognized for going above and beyond to ensure DuPont is a great place to learn and lead. A graduate of the Kinesiology program with a teacher's certification in K-12 Health/Physical Education (P.E.T.E) from the University of North Georgia, William believes in preparing the next generation for tomorrow.
Ami Young
Ami Young is a music educator at Long Branch Elementary School and a proud member of the Lumpkin County Schools community, recognized for her dedication to inspiring students through music and arts education. She earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Georgia and has a rich family legacy of musical and educational involvement in the area. Ami has taught in both general and music education, serving students across multiple grade levels and creating engaging learning experiences that foster creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
