The Fulbright is a dream maker scholarship. It gives students the
opportunity to conduct research, teach English, or earn a graduate degree in one
of 150 countries worldwide fully funded for a year.
The reason it's a dream maker scholarship is because it's open to any student from
any major or background. This year alone we have five students selected for
Fulbright. Four of them will teach English and one will pursue a graduate degree.

I actually heard about the Fulbright scholarship program when I was
doing my internship in Germany two summers ago. Dr. Lin emailed me about the
program letting me know that I might be a good candidate for it and that's how it all started.

I had just recently gotten back from six months in Jordan
and I was looking for another opportunity to live abroad for an
extended amount of time and Fulbright was the perfect opportunity for those goals.
I chose to study Turkey because first of all it has the university that
I want to study at in Istanbul and second because it's a really great place
to study refugees and irregular migration in general.

Once in Laos, I really hope to help people improve their communication skills and
their relationship-building skills which is crucial especially in ever-growing,
ever-expanding world and economy.

As an aspiring interpreter, I need to be able
to understand everything that has to do with the language and the culture and
the Fulbright grant can help me with this by allowing me to spend time in a
country and invest in the people and learn all these things that will help me
become an interpreter.

Earning this scholarship has made me feel like I
can accomplish anything that I set my mind to. It means that all my hard work
has paid off.
