    England

Gloucester, England: Located in Southwest England on the River Severn, Gloucester's surrounding cities include Bristol and Birmingham. On weekends, student will go on self-organized excursions to London, Oxford, and the Cotswolds to become more familiar with the British culture.  Additionally, students will have the opportunity to independently travel around historic and cultural sites. The Gloucester Cathedral, The New Inn, and several churches and schools dating back to the fifth century are nearby and convenient to access.

The purpose of this program is to provide Senior undergraduate Education Majors with opportunities to experience the British education system and to examine best practices, which can be returned to the American educational context. Interns will be placed in schools in the Gloucester School District. The school placements will be determined according to the student’s area of specialization and personal interest. The British system differs vastly from the US system in how instruction is organized. The students will visit each school for approximately two weeks, writing reflections of their experiences, interviewing teachers, and taking pictures. Students will reside in homestay placements.
