Steps to College
Steps to College (S2C) is a summer enrichment program at the University of North Georgia for bilingual and multilingual high school students who are learning English. The program helps students strengthen their English skills, earn credit toward high school graduation, and explore college opportunities.
Students take courses such as American government, science, math, language arts, and ESOL. State-certified teachers lead the classes, with support from UNG students who serve as teaching assistants and mentors. The program includes classroom instruction, transportation, and lunch.
Funded by the The Goizueta Foundation, the program is offered at UNG’s Gainesville Campus, and typically serves 80 to 100 students each summer. Local school systems provide transportation, and the program is free for students. Participating districts include Gainesville City Schools and the Hall County School District, Forsyth County Schools, and Banks County School System.
