Spanish Translation Certificate

This 18-hour program will provide students with a general academic background and hands-on experience in translation. It can be taken as a stand-alone program or in conjunction with another major.

The program aims to develop skills in the areas of written and oral communication and cultural competency through the use of real-world materials and scenarios. Students will have the opportunity to build vocabulary and gain experience in the translation of medical, legal, business/financial and general literature documents.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to apply language-related skills in a variety of professional venues such as businesses, medical facilities, courts, law enforcement and social services agencies, education and other job scenarios requiring literacy skills.

The translation program prepares students for the multicultural, multilingual world in which they live. It is open to all majors.
