Gerontology Programs

UNG offers an interdisciplinary gerontology minor, undergraduate gerontology certificate, and a graduate gerontology certificate. All courses are fully online and offered during the fall, spring and summer semesters. All gerontology program courses are fully online.

 Program Objectives

  • To provide students with a theoretical introduction to the field of Gerontology theory, application, and research.
  • To provide students with opportunities for clinical internship experiences with older adults in a community setting.
  • To provide public service programs to meet educational, professional, and community needs.
  • To prepare students to meet the physiological, sociological, psychological, and community demands of an ever increasing population of older adults.
  • To integrate distance learning with web based technologies which enhance student exposure to the field of Gerontology.
  • To facilitate understanding of cultural, social, and economic differences in the study of aging.

Upon completion of the program, students opting for the certificate will receive it in addition to the major or minor. Degree seeking students will have the certificate noted on their transcripts. Graduate students and post-bachelor students seeking a certificate must enroll for all courses at the graduate level.
