The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Where all students matter.

Robert: Hello, my name is Robert L. Robinson, and I want to welcome you to the MSA office. That’s the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

Edrea: Be a part of your culture, but someone else’s culture, which is always incredibly important.

Uzo: We’re all together, we’re all in this together.

Lana: People, partnerships, and success.

Roany: All people come in from, like I said, different backgrounds, religions, race, you name it. They all come and have fun together, get to know each other.

Chioma: As a Diplomat for Diversity, I am a UNG student who engages the community in dialogue about diversity.

Trey: We welcome any race of any age.

What does MSA mean to you?

Chelsea: To me, MSA means support, and encouragement… Just telling me that I can do things that I don’t think I can.

Lana: Because the MSA office gives us a lot of tools to be successful and to achieve our goals and achieve our dreams, however big they may be.

Brittney: We can be comfortable to talk about social issues and not get offended. Just to be aware of each other’s differences.

Amanda: For me, the MSA office is a place that provides support, equality, and empowerment for all students.

Leilani: The MSA for me is a home away from home. It’s a place where I can come and meet people who are like me or similar to me, who share similar backgrounds.

Justin: MSA means, to me, a place where you can find friends, feel comfortable. I didn’t really know anybody my first semester here, but when I went into the office, I was able to meet new people, and gain new friends.

Bryan: I’ve been able to grow academically, personality-wise, and also financial with the scholarships that they provide.

Prince: The MSA office focuses on five pillars: Leadership, Cultural Awareness, Scholarship, Advocacy, and Student Organizations.

Student Organizations
Henry: They support the Latino Student Association,

[Students engage in a fun activity]

VO: Black Student Union, Diplomats of Diversity, Trailblazers, and more.

Lily: It’s really fun. We all get together and collaborate to make big events like Welcome Day, and just have a good time.

Scholarship
Nataly: I’ve been blessed to receive the Legacy Scholarship for the past three years, and I have been able to encourage younger generations of students; and not only that, I’ve been able to decide my future career path.

Cultural Awareness
Marcus: The MSA does a lot for cultural awareness. We have Latino History Month, we have Black History Month, we do the Safe Zone training for LGBT awareness, and stuff like that. What it means on this campus is that more people can be a part of these cultures.

Leadership
Taylor: We want to be somebody who wants to inspire people to be somebody, so you have to put yourself out there to be a leader in order to do that for other people, and the MSA has taught me how to be there.

Advocacy
Diana: As a Diplomat for Diversity, I see how the MSA office fights for the rights of gender equality, religion equality, as well as they fight for the equality of minorities. They do it through different events: they host town halls through the Diplomats and Unify, where they talk about social justice issues that are occurring in the media right now, and they try to make an understanding of respect, the Safe Zone, and also inform people on different ideas they might have not thought of.
