UNG named Best of Forsyth

The University of North Georgia (UNG) Cumming Campus was named the Best College/University and the UNG Division of Professional and Continuing Education was named Best in Corporate Training in Forsyth County for 2017 by Forsyth County News.

Launched in 2015, the Best of Forsyth readers' choice awards recognizes businesses in an array of categories ranging from medical, food and beverage, auto and transportation, to community and business.  

Jason Pruitt, executive director for UNG's Cumming Campus, has watched the student enrollment double in size since 2012.

"The Cumming Campus has grown to some 964 students enrolled and offers dual enrollment for high school students and associate, graduate and certificate programs for adult learners," Pruitt said. "This year UNG celebrates 5 years of serving the Forsyth community. We are proud that this campus represents the culmination of many years of effort with the city of Cumming and various Forsyth County civic leaders to expand opportunities for higher education in the region."

UNG was awarded the 'Best of Forsyth' distinction during a celebration dinner on Jan. 25. at Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center. Pruitt and Brooke Smith, associate director of Professional and Continuing Education, accepted the award on behalf of the university.

"We are honored to be recognized for our work with business and industry along the 400 corridor. We are pleased to be a contributor to local economic development through our leadership, supervision and computer training," said Wendy Estes, director of Professional and Continuing Education at UNG.

More than 239,000 votes determined the 240+ winners to the 2017 Best of Forsyth awards. Each winner will be given display recognition and will be featured in the Best of Forsyth magazine that will be released inside the Forsyth County News on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Degrees and programs of study available on the Cumming Campus are: business administration, business and marketing education, Master of Arts in teaching, Master of Education with a major in early childhood education, Master of Education in curriculum and instruction, education specialist in school leadership: building and district level emphases, Master of Business Administration, teacher certificate endorsement in educational leadership, teacher certificate post baccalaureate initial certification.
