On April 20-22, the University of North Georgia (UNG) welcomes alumni of all campuses and all eras to the Dahlonega Campus to celebrate Alumni Weekend.
This year's celebration will include a family-friendly concert featuring country artist Radford Windham, a 2000 UNG alumnus. Windham will perform with his band Step Back Cadillac from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 21, on the Promenade in front of the Library Technology Center.
"We are very excited to have alumnus Radford Windham and his band Step Back Cadillac on campus for this year's Alumni Weekend concert," said Wendi Huguley, director of alumni relations and annual giving at UNG. "We have so many alumni that have great talents, and we are thrilled to showcase these guys. Last year the concert was a huge success. This is meant to be an easy, relaxing event. Bring your family, lawn chairs and a picnic basket.”
The free event is exclusively for members of the UNG Alumni Association; non-members can call the Office of Alumni Relations at 706-864-1547 or visit the Alumni Relations website to join. In addition to the concert, the event will include caricature artists and concessions for sale.
During the concert, the Alumni Association will have reunion tents for the classes of 1978, 1988 and 1998; reunion attendees will pay $10 to enter their reunion tent and appetizers will be served.
Additionally, Alumni Weekend 2018 has a full slate of activities and reunions.
The Nighthawks Athletic Club Annual Golf Tournament at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 20, provides the traditional start to the weekend. Additionally, the class of 1958 will hold its 60th reunion beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the new Convocation Center.
On April 21, events in addition to the concert include the UNG Alumni Association Awards Luncheon, Memorial Retreat, the UNG Outdoors canoe trip, Young Alumni gathering, and the All-Alumni Mixer.
The weekend wraps up April 22 with the 2 p.m. Corps of Cadets Military Awards Review, which is open to the public, and several additional Corps of Cadets events.
For the third year, UNG will provide a virtual Alumni Weekend experience via RECALL, outreach to interested alumni who cannot attend the celebration in person. Throughout the weekend the university and alumni will share the various events happening across campus via social media and live streaming.
