University of North Georgia (UNG) alumnus Bill LeRoy grabbed national attention this summer with the Savannah Bananas baseball team in the Coastal Plains League (CPL).

LeRoy appeared widely on social media and multiple sports outlets for his microphone introduction of himself at the plate and for correctly predicting how he would get an out during a live mid-game interview. The plate introduction video and an interview with him also appeared on a SportsCenter feature on the Bananas on ESPN.

"This opportunity has changed my life and allowed me to fall in love with this sport even more than I already was," LeRoy said. "The place is so much fun and is a party with one big family. We're changing the way the game of baseball is viewed and getting national exposure."

In his fourth summer with the Bananas, the catcher and former UNG baseball player earned second-team All-CPL honors as Savannah won the CPL championship. He committed zero errors behind the plate and tallied 25 hits and 19 RBIs.

LeRoy has joined the Savannah Bananas' professional team that travels the country to show off the Bananas' fun style of baseball.
