Atlanta Braves fans will have a chance to take photos with the 2021 World Series trophy Feb. 25 on the University of North Georgia's (UNG) Dahlonega Campus.
The trophy will be on display at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park, the home of UNG's softball team, from 2-6 p.m. Feb. 25. Admission to the event will be $5 per person (ages 10 and up) and includes admission to the UNG baseball game against Catawba College, set for 4 p.m. that day. Tickets can be purchased through UNG's Hometown Ticketing website.
The event is free to all UNG students, faculty and staff through the UNG Connect app.
"A Nighthawk baseball game is the perfect place for our local and campus communities to share in the excitement surrounding the Braves' World Series championship," Lee Glenn, UNG associate athletic director for external operations, said. "There is a large contingency of Braves fans in our local area and we are looking forward to pairing the trophy photo opportunity with some of the country's best NCAA Division II baseball."
Fans are encouraged to park near Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium on Barlow Road in Dahlonega. UNG Public Safety officers will be on site to help direct traffic and shuttles will be made available if overflow parking is required.
The trophy's stop in Dahlonega is one of 151 on the tour, commemorating 151 years of Braves baseball.
"We felt the tremendous support of Braves Country throughout the season and particularly in the postseason, and we are taking this championship on the road to fans across the Southeast so that they can share in the joy and celebration of this historic victory," Derek Schiller, president and CEO of the Braves, said.
Anyone interested in bringing large groups or teams to the Braves trophy tour event at Lynn Cottrell Park should contact Morgan May, UNG Athletics marketing and events coordinator, at morgan.may@ung.edu.
The tour begins Feb. 15 in midtown Atlanta and will continue through summer 2022.
