Vivian Liddell, a University of North Georgia (UNG) assistant professor of painting and drawing, recently exhibited her work in Beverly Hills, California, at the LA Art Show, an international art experience with more than 120 prominent domestic and international galleries from 23 countries curating special exhibits at the forefront of the burgeoning contemporary art movement. The show had 70,000 visitors in five days.

In November of 2022, Liddell's work was part of the SCOPE International Art Fair in Miami Beach. The Miami event had 140 international exhibitors with 60,000 visitors in six days.

"These past two exhibitions at SCOPE Miami and the LA Art Show have been particularly exciting for me because of the large volume of people who have interacted with my work. It's been fun to see how the conversation around the work changes in an International context, and it's made me realize that some of the content of my work is distinctly American," Liddell said.

Liddell is also co-exhibiting with Jeremy Phillips, an Asheville painter, at Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, North Carolina. Upstairs Artspace is a nonprofit contemporary art organization with a mission to develop an understanding and appreciation of contemporary art and crafts through exhibits, programs, and educational activities that enrich the cultural life of the region. She works with painting, fiber and craft techniques, sculpture, printmaking, photography, animation and sound.

In addition to teaching and advising students, UNG visual arts faculty are also active artists, exhibiting their own works. As research and publications are requirements for many faculty positions, exhibitions are the equivalent for art faculty.
