U.S. News ranks UNG online programs

The University of North Georgia (UNG) earned high marks on multiple lists when U.S. News & World Report released its Best Online Colleges rankings Feb. 6.
UNG ranked fourth among public universities in Georgia on the 2024 U.S. News Best Online Bachelor's Programs list.
The University of Georgia, University of West Georgia and Kennesaw State University ranked ahead of UNG, with UNG ahead of Georgia State University, Columbus State University and Middle Georgia State University.
UNG also ranked fourth among public universities in Georgia on the U.S. News Best Online Master's in Criminal Justice Programs list. The university was tabbed seventh among Georgia public universities on the Best Online Master's in Nursing Programs list. UNG was eighth among Georgia public universities on the U.S. News Best Online Master's in Education Programs list.
U.S. News compiled the rankings based on engagement, expert opinion, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, student excellence, and peer assessment.
"We are pleased to receive this recognition," Dr. Chaudron Gille, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, said. "UNG has strategically invested in developing quality online degree programs in order to provide opportunities for working adults and learners who are place bound or need flexibility in their schedule to advance their educational and career goals."
These rankings come on the heels of UNG tying for 17th among public Regional Universities in the South in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released Sept. 18. In more specialized lists for public Regional Universities in the South, among Georgia universities, UNG was No. 1 on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans; No. 1 for Least Debt, which measures schools whose students graduated carrying the lightest debt loads; and No. 3 on the Best Value Colleges list.
One of the state's largest universities, UNG serves more than 18,000 students across its five campuses in Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee County, and online. UNG offers more than 100 programs of study, including certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral programs.
Poultry team earns No. 6 spot in nationals
The UNG poultry judging team placed sixth in the national poultry judging contest at the University of Arkansas.
Glouse receives student DAISY Award
Sydney Glouse received the first student DAISY Award given by Northeast Georgia Health System. The award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses.
Future educators learn about teaching
UNG's College of Education co-sponsored Future Georgia Educators Day Oct. 31 to identify, recruit, prepare, and retain the next generation of Georgia's teachers.
Blue Ridge students earn scholarships
UNG honored 28 of its Blue Ridge Campus students with almost $15,000 of scholarships and celebrated the philanthropy that made those scholarships possible at the Tomato Sandwich Supper on Nov. 7.
