The University of North Georgia's (UNG) annual #ONEUNG– Bold Forward Giving Campaign has returned and will last from April 1-30. Contributions to the 21 projects will support various UNG groups in their attempts to plan events, buy equipment, conduct research, and pursue other ventures.
This year's campaign aim is to bring in $97,000 for the 21 projects supported through the UNG Foundation's efforts. All projects have been carefully selected, as they support President Mike Shannon’s 7 Big Bets to make UNG the most innovative, dynamic, legacy-making university in the nation.
This campaign is serving as a catalyst to accelerate synergy between the various programs under a big bet umbrella. There is a university-wide process of consolidating our efforts for the betterment of our students and to highlight the principles that make UNG exceptional.

"'ONEUNG — Bold Forward' emphasizes the principles of unity and vision. President Shannon has infused UNG with energy and vision, and he needs a unified UNG family to make that vision a reality," Alberto Perez, annual giving officer for the UNG Foundation, said. "This campaign is serving as a catalyst to accelerate synergy between the various programs under a big bet umbrella. There is a university-wide process of consolidating our efforts for the betterment of our students and to highlight the principles that make UNG exceptional."
One new project this year is Graduate Tuition Assistance.
The project aims to bring in $5,000 in donations that will directly benefit students enrolled in programs encompassing business, nursing, K-12 education, and agricultural industries, among others
"As the demand for master's degree holders continues to grow across various industries, it's essential to support aspiring graduate students in pursuing their educational goals. By contributing today, supporters are not only investing in the education of future leaders but also the health and wellness of communities across the United States," Dr. Troy Terry, dean of Graduate Studies, said.
Another notable project this year is the Dean Mike Hyams Emerging Leader Scholarship with a goal of $5,000. The award recognizes a student leader at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet who exemplifies the qualities most admired and respected in Dean Hyams: dedication, enthusiasm and integrity.
"Dean Mike Hyams was an exceptional, servant leader. As the first dean of students and having served for 28 years, he has had a tremendous impact on students, especially student leaders," Alumni Relations officer Wesley Thomas said. "The Hyams Emerging Leadership Scholarship is designed to identify and encourage students as they begin to take leadership roles at the Dahlonega Campus. This scholarship was established to honor Dean Hyams and to continue his legacy of developing student leaders for years to come."
