Dr. Simanton-Coogan arrived at UNG in 2016 to become the George E. Coleman Sr. Planetarium director. As a lecturer of physics at UNG, she teaches astronomy courses and conducts science outreach through the planetarium. Dr. Simanton-Coogan has presented at several conferences for science education organizations and had two publications in the Astrophysical Journal.
Dr. Simanton-Coogan received a bachelor's degree in physics in 2009 from Albion College in Albion, Michigan. She earned her Ph.D. in physics in 2015 from the University of Toledo in Ohio, where she researched populations of star clusters and galaxy evolution.
