As a professor of communication at UNG and adviser for the university's debate and speech teams, Dr. Preston is an expert in speech communication, rhetoric and debate. He has had more than 40 published works to his credit on speech, debate, and competitive forensics, which is a contest between individuals or teams in various argument and advocacy skills. Preston was interviewed on WABE and WDUN for his opinion on the presidential debates between President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden in fall 2020.
Preston earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
