Parking Tickets

Tickets may be issued to any vehicle illegally or improperly parked on any UNG campus

All parking rules and regulations can be enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Vehicles not in the UNG system may be traced via the DMV for collection.

Violation & Fines

Slanted Spaces: Backing into or pulling through a slanted space is strictly prohibited. Vehicles must always park so the rear license plate faces the traffic lane. Straight Spaces: Backing into or pulling through a straight space is prohibited unless the vehicle has a registered front license plate. Otherwise, the rear license plate must face the traffic lane.	$25
Restricted Roadway: Driving on roads designated only for pedestrians, service vehicles, and ADA access. Exceeding Time Limits: Overstaying in 1-hour enforced spaces or the 30-minute Drill Field load/unload zones. EV Spaces: Parking in an EV charging spot without actively charging. Improper Space: Parking an oversized vehicle in a compact space, or vice versa. Unregistered Vehicle: Parking a vehicle not registered in the UNG system. Permit/Zone Violations: Parking without the proper permit or during restricted hours in the following spaces: Visitor spaces (Staff, faculty, and students are prohibited) Faculty/Staff (F/S) spaces (Standard or 24/7 zones; no UNG fleet vehicles allowed 24/7) Commuter (Non-Resident) or Resident student spaces Reserved spaces (Numbered, Future Nighthawk, RLC, or OMT spaces) Improper Parking: Parking over the line or taking up two spaces. Gravel Lots: Failing to park directly in front of the designated wheel stop. Unauthorized Areas: Parking on sidewalks, grass, landscaped areas, yellow/unmarked curbs, driveways, or blocking traffic/dumpsters. (Note: The absence of a "No Parking" sign does not mean parking is allowed). Multiple Vehicles: Having more than one registered vehicle on campus at the same time. Closed/Restricted Areas: Parking in zones closed for events or construction. Falsification: Altering, replicating, or fraudulently placing a ticket on a windshield. Service Fees: Towing fee or Boot fee.	$50
Parking in a Fire Lane/Blocking Fire Hydrants - Parking in areas with signage indicating fire lane or curbs painted red, or where fire hydrants are visible.	$60
Parking in Handicap Space/Disability Access Area - A valid disability license plate or a disability hanging placard is required and must be clearly visible. Parking in the blue striped area next to disability space is NOT permitted.	$100

Uniform Traffic Citations (UTC)

Public Safety issues UTCs for moving and safety violations (e.g., speeding, parking in fire lanes, or unauthorized use of accessible spaces).

UTCs cannot be appealed through Parking Services. For questions regarding a UTC, refer to the contact information printed on the back of the citation.

Payment
Parking fines may be paid online or in person at:

Card Services/Parking Services office in Gainesville and Cumming

Parking Services in Dahlonega.

Fines paid in office may be paid by credit/debit card (Discover, Master Card or Visa), check or cash (no change). The University will not accept loose/rolled change. Unpaid fines may result in Banner account holds (for class registration) and/or withdrawal of campus parking privileges.

Paying Online

Go to the Parking Services Web Portal.

Click on the box "Lookup A Ticket".

Enter your ticket # along with your vehicle license plate and click the "search" button.

Any ticket(s) that have been assigned to your account will now be displayed.

If you only have one ticket applied to your account, click on the "Pay Ticket Now" box and enter the correct payment information necessary.

If you have more than one ticket, they will be summarized in the "Open Tickets on Vehicle" section, select the correct ticket then click "Pay Ticket Now".

Enter your email address then click "Complete Checkout".

Enter your credit card payment information then click "Submit".

If the payment information you supplied was correct, your payment will be accepted and you'll receive an email notification for the transaction.

It may take up to an hour for your payment to process and for the hold on your Banner account to clear.

Appeals
Tickets can be appealed online within seven calendar days of being issued. After the seven calendar days you waive your right to appeal the parking ticket.

The Committee meets once a month. Once the appeal process is completed, the ticket can be upheld, voided, or reduced. The Committee’s findings are final and cannot be appealed further. Parking Services cannot change the ruling of the committee.

Submit an Appeal

Go to the Parking Services Web Portal.

Click on the box “Lookup A Ticket”.

Enter your ticket # along with your vehicle license plate and click the “search” button.

A summary of the ticket will be displayed, notice that the current status shows as “Issued”.

Verify that your contact info is correct and provide a current phone number.

Type your appeal information in the space provided.

Click “Request Appeal”.

Summary page is displayed, notice that the current status now shows as “Pending”.

You will receive an email informing you of the final appeal decision.

Appeals based on the following are not acceptable and may be dismissed:

Lack of knowledge of the Parking Rules and Regulations

Inability to find a permitted parking space

Operation of the vehicle by another person

Failure of enforcement officers to ticket for similar offenses

Inability to pay ticket fines

Inclement weather

Tardiness to class, meeting, or other campus appointment

Someone other than a Parking Services employee providing instruction to park

Lack of a valid parking permit by a student, faculty or staff member

Unauthorized parking in handicap spaces/blue striped area, grass/landscape, sidewalk or any other unmarked area

Only parked in an unauthorized area for a short amount of time

Failure to observe posted signage

Fire lane and fire hydrant tickets
