Nominations for the 2023 - 2026 term are due by May 5, 2023.
Staff Council Mission
The Staff Council supports and facilitates the mission of the University of North Georgia, a leadership institution of the University System of Georgia. The Council will act as an advisory body to the University President and will act on behalf of the Staff of the University as a voice to the University regarding policy decisions that affect staff. Representatives of the Staff Council will be included in the committees for strategic planning and budget processes to support the success of the academic mission of the University.
Staff Council Purpose
To advance the mission of the institution and to promote the welfare of the staff representation from all campuses in part through the programs and initiatives listed here:
- Professional Development Support
- Educational Support (book scholarships)
- Strengthen our campus communities with special events and activities
- Foster community engagement both within and outside the institution
Eligibility to Stand for Election
At the time of nomination, an employee must:
- Be a staff member of UNG for a minimum of six (6) months
- Non-faculty University employees
- Does not have an active disciplinary documentation letter
Duties Required of Staff Council Members
- Voting Staff Council members shall serve for three years and alternate members shall serve for one year.
- Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled quarterly Council meetings along with monthly Campus Council meetings. If three or more meetings are missed without communicating with the vice chair, the member is removed from Staff Council.
- Serve on at least one standing committee and attend and actively participate in committee meetings.
