COVID-19 Asymptomatic Surveillance Testing

UNG is offering COVID-19 testing for any UNG faculty, staff, or student who is not currently experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at no cost. This is part of the university’s multi-faceted approach to monitor and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

If a student is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, UNG Student Health Services continues to offer COVID-19 tests for students who are symptomatic.

All testing is voluntary. Spaces for asymptomatic testing will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis with registration opening each Sunday approximately 8 to 9 days prior to the testing date.

About the Test

The entire process is contactless, takes approximately 15 minutes, and is free of charge. This is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. The testing utilizes the patient’s saliva sample to analyze the presence of gene sequences. If these gene sequences are present, the test result will be positive.

Individuals will receive results within 3-5 business days. Learn more about the PCR test.

Preparation for Testing

Participants should be well-hydrated prior to the event and should not eat, drink, smoke, or chew anything at least 30 minutes prior to the event.

Participants are encouraged to bring a smart phone with them to assist with the registration process.

Experiencing COVID-19 Symptoms?

UNG Student Health Services continues to offer other COVID-19 tests for students who are symptomatic. Students should call or email ahead for an appointment to be tested.

Employees or students who have tested positive or who have symptoms of COVID-19 should seek medical care, notify their supervisor or teacher, stay home, and complete the UNG COVID-19 Self-Reporting Form

Asymptomatic Surveillance Testing Dates & Registration

This is a completely voluntary program. We generally ask that you register before you come. However, we typically do accept walk-ups if your schedule changes. We have to adhere to social distancing guidelines with that, but we will be as flexible as possible.

If you are a student who needs accommodations, please contact Student Disability Services.
