Math Lab FAQ

Math Lab FAQs
What should I bring to a tutoring session?

Students should bring an already worked out problem, textbook, and class notes.

How does the Math lab work?

Once you enter the ACTT Center,  log in at the computer, take a seat, and let one of our staff or student tutors know you need help.

What should students not expect from a tutoring session?
Students should not expect one-on-one tutoring during the entire stay in the lab; tutors will circulate around the lab and alternate between students. Students will do their own work following a tutor’s example.
Can the math tutors just teach me the lessons that I missed when I was absent from my math class?
No, we recommend that you make an appointment with your math instructor to receive instructions on material you missed.
Can the math tutors help me learn how to use my calculator or with Web Assignments?
Yes. These are a couple of the services the Math labs provide. Tutors can help with solving and entering answers into web assignments and can help students learn how to use their calculators.
