Jolie Lester is a senior Business Management major and German minor from Peachtree City, GA and plays Outfield for the Women’s Softball team on the Dahlonega Campus.
Jolie has been playing softball since she was five, so when she was considering where she’d go to college, she knew she wanted to go somewhere that she could play. UNG was the only school that offered her a scholarship to play, and after touring the school and seeing softball facilities that rivaled Division I softball programs, she decided that UNG would be her home for the next four years. She could have let the fact that only one school offered her a scholarship get in her head and hold her back, but she had no idea what was coming next.
In her freshman year, she was a starter on the team, an opportunity that very few freshmen receive. That year, the softball team went all the way to the NCAA Division II National Championship game, and the year after, they brought the National Championship trophy home to Dahlonega! Jolie loves being part of this team because everyone has a bold but unique personality that they showcase not just off the field, but in the game, as well.
Jolie is also a dual U.S. and German citizen and was able to spend the summer of 2022 playing for Team Germany in countries across Europe, all because of a connection made with an alumna of the UNG softball program.
"Its easy to worry and get caught up in the little things, but just breathe. It's going to work its way out."
Jolie’s advice for future Nighthawks is to trust the process because everything happens for a reason.
