Chemistry Major with a Biochemistry Concentration (B.S.)

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry offers three American Chemical Society (ACS) certified degrees.  Perhaps the most versatile degree is the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a major in chemistry and a biochemistry concentration. This degree is also the second-most popular degree in the department.

Biochemistry Curriculum

The biochemistry curriculum is centered on the five traditional chemistry sub-disciplines:

  1. analytical chemistry
  2. organic chemistry
  3. physical chemistry
  4. inorganic chemistry
  5. biochemistry

Students also select from electives in advanced biochemistry and biology to complete their biochemistry coursework.  Finally, many students gain further lab experience by conducting undergraduate research.
