    Political Science (B.S.)

Are you interested in how laws are made and the structures of governments across the world? How public policy is formulated, and the impact of policy on the social and economic status of the populace? Consider getting a political science degree.

Political science training also provides valuable preparation for participating in community organizations, electoral politics, movements on behalf of specific policies, or even seeking elected or appointed positions in government.

The Bachelor of Science with a major in political science provides a solid academic foundation by examining the formal institutions of governments around the world. The diverse curriculum allows students to select from a slate of American and international courses based on their interests while preparing for a wide range of careers or advanced degrees.

Students who choose to earn this degree in political science can count up to nine (9) credit hours of internship coursework towards their degree. A minor concentration is required for this degree program. While study at a non-American university is not required for this major, participation in a study abroad program is highly encouraged.

    • Online Degree Program

You can earn your Bachelor of Science in Political Science completely online!

The Department of Political Science & International Affairs was an early adopter of online programs starting with our Master of Arts in International Affairs (MAIA) program in 2009. Since then we have expanded our ability to serve the “virtual” student and we are the first academic department at UNG to offer associate, bachelor's and master's degrees online. Our online program is designed to serve all students such as a returning military veteran, a working parent, or a student traveling abroad.

The online program is designed to be completed based on classes offered in a two-year rotation using UNG online courses and eCore. Not all courses are offered each semester. Please contact Professors Marie Goodall or Jaimie Edwards at POLSonline@ung.edu with questions about the program and UNG online course availability.
