STEAM Endorsement

The University of North Georgia’s College of Education offers a fully online science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) endorsement for Georgia’s K–12 teachers. You’ll learn how to connect these disciplines through hands-on, interdisciplinary, and real-world learning.

Teachers learn strategies for arts integration, design thinking, visual literacy, and cross-disciplinary collaboration that foster creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in the classroom.

The endorsement may be taken for Professional Learning Units (PLUs) and is approved through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Applicants certified in Georgia should verify with their employer or the GaPSC whether the advanced degree leads to a certificate upgrade or pay increase. The GaPSC provides the Certificate Upgrade Advisor to assist with this process. Out-of-state applicants should also verify with their employer or certification body to verify certificate upgrades.

Program Quick Facts

Part I: Foundations of STEAM 8 PLUs (80 hours) | Cost: $590

Establish a strong foundation in STEAM education by exploring how interdisciplinary learning, curiosity, and creative thinking deepen student understanding across content areas.

Educators examine strong examples of STEAM and key frameworks for inquiry, design, and problem-solving, and identify meaningful connections within their own curriculum.

Through guided reflection and exploration, participants begin to develop a clear vision for STEAM teaching and learning in their classroom and school context.

Part II: Designing and Implementing STEAM Learning 8 PLUs (80 hours) | Cost: $590

Focus on translating STEAM principles into classroom practice. Educators design and implement a standards-aligned STEAM learning experience that emphasizes inquiry, collaboration, and real-world application.

Through implementation of project-based learning (PBL), participants document student learning, reflect on instructional decisions, and refine their approach to support deeper understanding.

The course culminates in sharing outcomes and strategies among cohort members to sustain and expand their understanding and application of STEAM.
