"Military Makeover: Operation Career" featured the University of North Georgia (UNG) in a March 1 episode on Lifetime, and the episode will re-air at 7:30 a.m. March 7.

Hosted by Montel Williams, the program focuses on UNG's role as one of the nation's six senior military colleges (SMC) and the lone SMC that produces officers solely for the Army. The show visited UNG's Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses.

The full episode is streaming on the UNG YouTube page and is also featured on the Military Makeover website.

UNG is the Military College of Georgia and commissions about 100 second lieutenants each year for the Army, Georgia Army National Guard and Army Reserve. More than 60 alumni have gone on to become flag officers.

"Deliver the Corps of the Future" is one of seven strategic big bets UNG President Michael Shannon outlined in his "Bold Forward: Running into Our Calling" white paper.

The show featured interviews with alumni and a current cadet, as well as Shannon and men's soccer head coach Anel Lilic:

  • Col. Kitefre Oboho, '02, who served as commander of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Moore, Georgia, and is currently enrolled in the Army War College. In June 2024, he is slated to take command of the entire 75th Ranger Regiment.
  • Earl "Chico" Porter III, '09, an attorney and former Army ranger who has raised money to address veteran suicides.
  • 2nd Lt. Kevin Oliveros Aguilar, '23, a Cleveland, Georgia, resident who commissioned in the Infantry branch of the Georgia Army National Guard in December.
  • Liv Sullens, a Gainesville, Georgia, resident who is a cadet and women's soccer player for the Nighthawks.
  • Cleo Johnson, a Kennesaw, Georgia, resident who is a cadet on the Georgia Military Service Scholarship.
