University of North Georgia (UNG) President Michael Shannon will deliver his "State of the University" address at 11 a.m. Oct. 22 in David E. Ralston Hall at UNG's Blue Ridge Campus.

"We will celebrate the remarkable achievements of our faculty, staff, alumni, and students over the past year," Shannon said. "Let's come together to honor their hard work and dedication and be inspired as we look ahead to what comes next for all of us."

Seats can be reserved by emailing universityevents@ung.edu. For those whose schedule does not allow in-person participation, the address will be broadcast live on the UNG YouTube channel.

Shannon became president of UNG in July 2023. Since then, he has released a white paper outlining seven strategic big bets and laid out moonshots aimed at creating a university that doesn't exist yet. Those ambitious goals are already paying dividends across the university by leaning into UNG's academic, athletic, leadership, and military strengths to create momentum and opportunity for students.

UNG has also seen growth in enrollment, jumping by 6.7% in 2024-25.
