Deidre Harp, MSN, RN

Deidre Harp began her nursing career on a medical-surgical unit at Piedmont Hospital, then shifted to a mental health focus. She spent ten years in various nursing roles at psychiatric facilities, with an emphasis on the inpatient care of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. During this time she was co-founder of a K-8 charter school in Georgia, where she developed and implemented the school nurse program for one year. While earning her master’s degree in nursing education between 2011-2013, she began teaching for the University System of Georgia where she later obtained her current nursing position as a lecturer at the University of North Georgia in January, 2016. She is a third-year nursing Ph.D. student at Augusta University working on her dissertation research, animal therapy as a nursing intervention for late-life depression.
