    Overview

    A proud alum of the University of Texas and the University of Georgia, Steve came to the UNG psychology department after a post-doc at Ohio State, has taught for the department since 1993, and directed the Honors Program from 2001-2019. For most of his adult life, he was married to UNG history professor Jennifer Smith, up until her passing in Feb. 2022.

    Steve lives on Crown Mountain with his son (Charlie), two basset hounds and three cats. He enjoys learning new things, especially about psychology, playing trivia with his friends, smoking brisket, visiting new places and both playing and watching sports (especially baseball).
