What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction Operations Update

Supplemental Instruction at UNG is committed to serving our students during the transition to online instruction for the foreseeable future. Sessions will remain consistent, collaborative, and engaging through the use of Blackboard Collaborate. Facilitators will be in contact with their individual professors and classes regarding their sessions. Find the full list of sessions on the Services by Course page.

Watch this video to see how SI is moving online.

We look forward to collaborating with our UNG community online for the near future! We wish everyone happiness, health, safety, and peace in the midst of the uncertainty.

Please contact SI administration with questions or concerns!

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized academic assistance program designed to help students navigate historically difficult courses through additional exposure to, and practice with, course material in a group setting. SI provides regularly scheduled, weekly review sessions led by an SI facilitator – a student who has successfully completed the course at UNG. The SI facilitator attends class with the students to keep abreast the course material, and meets with the professor to gain additional insight on how to succeed in the course.

The Benefits

SI Sessions are:
  • FUN!
  • Free
  • Voluntary
  • Open to all students in the course

University of North Georgia students who utilize SI earn, on average, HALF A LETTER GRADE HIGHER than those who don't use the program.

Whether you’re struggling to grasp the course material or simply want to gain a better understanding, come to SI! We’re here to help and we’d love to see you.
