What is Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an internationally recognized academic assistance program designed to help students navigate historically difficult courses through additional exposure to, and practice with, course material in a group setting. SI provides regularly scheduled, weekly review sessions led by an SI facilitator – a student who has successfully completed the course at UNG. The SI facilitator attends class with the students to keep abreast the course material, and meets with the professor to gain additional insight on how to succeed in the course.

Services by Campus

SI Sessions are:

  • Fun!
  • Free
  • Voluntary
  • Open to all students in the course

University of North Georgia students who utilize SI earn, on average, half a letter grade higher than those who don't use the program.

Whether you’re struggling to grasp the course material or simply want to gain a better understanding, come to SI! We’re here to help and we’d love to see you.
