    TEFL Certificate

    The Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Certificate at the University of North Georgia is online and provides excellent training with high professional standards for individuals seeking to teach English abroad, online, or in their communities. The TEFL Certificate at  the University of North Georgia offers opportunities to conduct classroom observations and practice teaching during the TEFL Certificate practicum.

    Requirements

    • Completed high school or possess a GED or foreign equivalent.
    • If English is not your first language, non-native English speakers may demonstrate language proficiency by (i) arranging an oral interview with one of our TEFL instructors, or (ii) sharing a TOEFL (iBT) score of 70.

    Get a TEFL Certificate Online

    Designed for those with little or no experience teaching English, the TEFL certificate:

    • Prepares you for your first online job teaching English or teaching English abroad or teaching English in your community.
    • Fosters your skills teaching English reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar to English language learners.
    • Integrates courses on culture in TEFL, linguistics and language acquisition, methods and materials in TEFL, and instruction and assessment in TEFL.
    • Includes opportunities for classroom observations and teaching practice.
    • Aligns with TESOL International Association standards, delivered online, completed in less than six months.

    Program Dates

    Spring 2023

    Registration deadline is January 6, 2023

    • Entire TEFL Certificate - registration of all four courses: (January 9 – June 4, 2023)
      • Registration Fee: $1000.00*
    • Course One - Issues of Culture in TEFL: (January 9 - February 12, 2023)
    • Course Two -  Linguistics and Language Acquisition: (February 13 - March 19, 2023)
    • Course Three - Methods and Materials in TEFL: (March 27 - April 30, 2023)
    • Course Four - Instruction, Assessment and Professionalism in TEFL: (May 1 - June 4, 2023)
