Guidance for Visitors

We expect all visitors to any of our campuses, as well as all of our UNG community members, to comply with COVID-19 health guidelines.

Any visitor to any UNG campus should conduct a self-screening prior to their visit to reduce their risk of exposing others while on campus. Here are some examples of COVID-19 Health & Safety protocols that are intended to maintain the health and safety of our UNG community.

Prospective Student Visits

  • To allow for social distancing, campus visits for new and prospective students will be adjusted to smaller groups with staggered start times to avoid contact with each other. Virtual elements will also be incorporated as an option for campus tours. Get more details on our Visit UNG page.

Residence Hall Visitation

  • In-room visitation in residence halls will be prohibited during the social distancing phase.
  • Guests will not be permitted within the residence halls.
  • Residential students must meet and visit with any guests outside of their residence halls.

Visitors in Common Areas

  • Masks are required in all campus building and in outdoor settings where social distancing cannot be achieved.
  • Visitors should use caution regarding the number of people gathering in close proximity (tabling) and should encourage social distancing of 6 feet or more.
  • Distribution of food items is discouraged. However, if food items will be distributed, they must be individually prepackaged and served by persons wearing face masks and gloves.
  • Because people eating in the dining areas on campus are permitted to remove their face covering while eating, restrictions for visitors will be strictly enforced in these areas.
  • The dining areas can be patronized by visitors, but should not be utilized as a location for engaging others in conversation because of the elevated risk of transmission.
  • Learn more about what you can expect on campus.

Visitors in Designated Public Forums

  • Although the Designated Public Forum areas are outside, we encourage visitors to wear a mask when engaging others in conversation while at a distance closer than 6 feet.
  • Visitors intending to utilize the Designated Public Forum areas are discouraged from entering campus buildings unnecessarily or remaining in buildings for extended periods of time.
  • Although the distribution of printed materials is permitted within the public forum area, this practice is discouraged during this time.
  • Designated Public Forums by campus:

Guidance & Plans

UNG's plans follow guidance from the University System of Georgia (USG), the Governor's COVID- 19 Task Force, the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to make public health-informed decisions affecting the status of its campuses.

The COVID-19 situation is fluid, and guidance will very likely change over time.
