Tutoring Services on the Gainesville Campus

Tutoring Services on the Gainesville Campus is primarily located in the Academic, Computing, Testing, and Tutoring (ACTT) Center

We have professional and peer tutors to help with sessions for mathematics, physics/chemistry, accounting, and writing. In-person tutoring takes place in the ACTT except for writing, which takes place in the Martha T. Nesbitt building, room 2103.

The UNG Success Hub also provides online tutoring sessions for these subjects and more.

What to Expect

Students can drop by for in-person sessions. Repeat visits are strongly encouraged so that we can assist in developing your academic needs.

We do:

  • assist with specific questions
  • help how to solve homework problems
  • help with web assignments
  • review concepts or problems for tests
  • help students learn how to use their calculators
  • help with writing for English courses, applications & professional documents, emails, and creative endeavors

We do not:

  • complete homework or online tests for students
  • teach lessons from a missed class that you were in absent in
    • We recommend you communicate with your professor first to receive instructions on material you missed, then we can help with specific concerns.

ACTT Center

Aside from tutoring, the center also provides make-up testing, study space, the IT Service Desk, textbook/calculator checkouts, as well as the largest computer lab on the Gainesville campus.

Students may check out many types of calculators and current textbooks for mathematics, chemistry, physics courses, etc. with their student ID. Borrowed items must be returned the same day.

Tutoring Guidelines at ACTT

Once you enter the ACTT Center, check in for a session through the UNG Success Hub and take a seat near the tutor you have checked in with. Students will do their own work following a tutor’s example.

Students should not expect one-on-one tutoring during the entire stay in the lab; tutors will circulate around the lab and alternate between students.
