Learn to Lead Boldly

Tavares Gordon is pursuing a degree in criminal justice in UNG's Public Safety Academy, and he is a member of the Corps of Cadets. That theme of service also runs through his firefighting duties with Lumpkin County Emergency Services.

Gordon appreciates the leadership training he has gained at UNG. It has given him chances to grow and learn. He seeks to set a good example by others through transparency and caring for them. The Titusville, Florida, native believes in the importance of influencing others in a positive manner.

"There's always someone watching," Gordon said.

He also encourages students to get outside their comfort zone and meet new people.

"Try new things because you never know what type of experience you might have," Gordon said.

At UNG, leadership is in our DNA. That’s why we’ve spent the last 150 years preparing students to make a lasting impact in their communities and in the world beyond. UNG’s history of leadership is ready for its next chapter: YOU!
