This exhibition celebrates Bob Owens, North Georgia College’s influential art professor and founder of the art department. Archival sketchbooks, prints, drawings, pottery, and ceramic sculptures not previously exhibited offer new perspectives on Owens’ creative work and teaching. First-hand accounts document his lasting impact as an art educator, while works by alumni demonstrate the influence of his mentorship across generations. Research and preparation for the exhibition was conducted by students enrolled in the Spring 2026 ART 4590 Exhibition Practicum.

Hand & Heart explores the ways that fine art and craft can create connections among people. Objects made by hand invite us to see, touch, contemplate, and engage, transforming works of art into bridges between neighbors, friends, loved ones, and strangers. Hand & Heart highlights the diverse creative practices of UNG alumni who celebrate how handmade objects inspire reflection and dialogue. It was juried by Kyle Clark, UNG alum, artist, educator, and conservation professional at the University of Alabama. The annual Juried Alumni Exhibition is open to former Visual Arts students from UNG, North Georgia College, and Gainesville State University.

Lots of Pictures Lots of Fun presents an exceptional selection of prints by internationally acclaimed artists, including Alexander Calder, Joan Miró, James Rosenquist, Eduardo Paolozzi, Allen Jones, Francisco Toledo, Bernard Buffet, and Ralph Goings. Spanning modernism, Pop Art, Photorealism, and contemporary Latin American art, the exhibition highlights the remarkable range of printmaking through lithography, etching, woodcut, and screen printing. Curated by Victoria Cooke from a collection donated to UNG by David Jonas, the exhibition offers a lively introduction to diverse artistic visions and traditions.

Transfers features artwork by UNG Visual Arts professors Craig Marshal Wilson and Allison Johnson, offering the Oconee community a glimpse into the creative practices represented across the university’s campuses. Wilson, who teaches drawing and painting, approaches his own work through curiosity and exploration, reflecting his teaching philosophy. Johnson, who teaches printmaking, creates projects that examine cultural and ecological shifts in today’s landscape. Together, their work demonstrates the range of artistic approaches and ideas represented by UNG Visual Arts faculty.

Unfolding Narratives in Space: From the Bayeux Tapestry to the Andlau Abbey Frieze

UNG proudly houses the only full-size, hand-painted replica of the Bayeux Tapestry in the United States. Measuring 224 feet and completed by artist Margaret ReVille in 1987, the replica was donated to UNG in 2014 by Judge Edd Wheeler. It vividly depicts the events surrounding the 1066 Battle of Hastings, a pivotal moment in English history. During the exhibition, UNG student docents will guide visitors through this remarkable medieval narrative, accompanied by a handweaving demonstration and a guest lecture exploring the tapestry's storytelling traditions.

Pests & Other Misunderstood Creatures examines beings that are often dismissed, feared, or overlooked, inviting viewers to reconsider their complexity and significance. Through ecological, cultural, personal, and metaphorical perspectives, the exhibition explores the many ways these creatures shape human experience and understanding. The exhibition features work by UNG Bachelor of Fine Arts students and is juried by Isabella Martino, a professional fine artist, UNG alumna, and Best in Show winner of the 2025 Juried Alumni Exhibition.

Traces of Us invites UNG student artists to explore the marks we leave behind—visible or invisible, personal or collective, fleeting or enduring. Through a wide range of media and perspectives, the exhibition considers memory, identity, relationships, place, time, and transformation, reflecting on the many ways our presence continues to echo through the world. The exhibition is curated and prepared by students in the Fall 2026 ART 4590 Exhibition Practicum and co-sponsored by the Center for Student Engagement and Leadership. Six awards will be selected by Judy Nollner, UNG alumna and retired Parkview High School art teacher.

Dialoguing with Folk Pottery presents a new exhibition of folk pottery from the UNG Permanent Collection, curated by UNG Visual Arts student Lucy Basso. Featuring primarily works by the Meaders and Hewell families, along with pottery by Bobby Ferguson and Bob Owens, the exhibition places historic North Georgia pottery traditions in conversation with new work by students in the UNG ceramics studio. Students interpret folk pottery through their own creative practices, creating a dialogue between tradition and contemporary making. A presentation led by Basso will accompany the opening reception.

The B.F.A. Senior Capstone Exhibitions showcase the culmination of years of intensive studio research, technical development, and creative exploration by UNG's graduating Visual Arts students. Across the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses, the exhibitions feature a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, paper arts, graphic design, digital illustration, three-D modeling, fiber arts, and photography. Together, the works reveal the individual perspectives, personal narratives, and conceptual concerns of the next generation of artists as they complete their undergraduate studies.
