Dr. Pozzi Harris received her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Texas at Austin. She joined UNG (formerly NGCSU) in 2006, and is proud to be a long-standing member of the Department of Visual Arts. She greatly enjoys teaching her passion, the history of art, to the diverse and vibrant UNG student community. She has created several upper-level art history courses in the program and been director of the Bob Owens Art Gallery at UNG. Since summer 2019, Dr. Pozzi Harris teaches Art Appreciation for the University System of Georgia eCampus, contributing to the design and content of this course as Subject Matter Expert and teaching workshops for USG eCampus faculty every semester.
Her research interests include Latin American art, 1900-present and Latinx art, 1960s to the present. Methodologically, she explores the intersections between artistic practice and visual culture.
In 2019, Dr. Pozzi Harris created a course dedicated to the art of Mexico and Latinx culture. As an extension of this academic experience, she organized the first Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition in fall 2021, inviting students to submit artwork that celebrates their heritage and identity. She intends to repeat and expand this project for many years to come.
Since summer 2020, she serves as Master Faculty Advisor for incoming students at the Department of Visual Arts, assisting majors with early course selections, introducing them to the Visual Arts programs, and serving as liaison with academic advisors.
In 2021, Dr. Pozzi Harris received an eHERO Award from eCampus, University System of Georgia and a UNG Teaching Excellence Award.
